Privacy Policy

Assurance Eureka Inc. recognizes that it has an obligation to adopt, implement and maintain up-to-date procedures that meet the requirements of the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (“PIPEDA”) and all the confidentiality laws that apply in the province of Quebec in its business management and that it must comply with them. As such, we undertake to respect the following declarations on the way Assurance Eureka Inc. collects, uses, discloses and manages personal information in its possession and under its control.

A Privacy Officer has been appointed, whose role is to ensure that the organization complies with privacy programs and that all employees of ASSURANCE EURÊKA INC. receive training on the new law, PIPEDA, as well as any other provincial privacy laws. Policies and procedures ensuring compliance with these laws are part of the training program and are made available to all employees.

How and why we collect and use your personal information.

When collecting personal information, by the means deemed most appropriate, we inform our customers as to the purpose of collecting, using and disclosing the personal information concerning them, and obtain their consent before or when of data collection, and before its use and disclosure.

Collection and use of personal information

Any medical, financial or other personal information collected during our collaboration that identifies an individual is considered personal information. This includes, but is not limited to, data you provide to us such as name, address, date of birth, financial and medical information, etc. and/or personal information collected with your authorization from a third party such as a doctor, hospital, broker, travel agency, medical information office, etc.

Personal information that you provide to us or that is collected from a third party is used to identify you, understand and meet your needs and preferences, process and pay your complaints, and help us comply with legal requirements.

As most of our services are offered by telephone, calls are recorded to ensure quality of service and to protect both parties in the event of a disagreement.

We may record or listen to calls, chat sessions and other communications you may have with us in order to ensure the quality of our customer service, to confirm our discussions and your instructions, to resolve a complaint or for training purposes of our staff.

Your consent will be required at the time of purchasing a product, paying a claim, or at any other time during our collaboration. You can revoke your consent giving us the right to use your personal information at any time. However, in some cases this may result in our inability to provide you with insurance coverage, assistance or make payment on your behalf.

Disclosure of personal information

EURÊKA ASSURANCE INC. undertakes not to communicate or disclose your personal information without first obtaining your consent, unless otherwise indicated as defined herein, or otherwise as agreed with you in writing. In the course of our collaboration, we communicate information to third parties, so that they can provide services on our behalf in connection with the administration of our transactions, or when required by law, such as in the case of a search warrant. In the event of an emergency, for example if a sudden illness occurs abroad, we may disclose your personal information including medical information to third parties. We then take your consent for granted to ensure that you receive appropriate care as quickly as possible.

Protection of personal information

EURÊKA ASSURANCE INC. protects the personal information it holds and ensures control against loss, theft and unauthorized access to this information, its disclosure, reproduction, use or any modification. Your personal information is protected, regardless of the format in which we store it, and will eventually be securely destroyed.

Employees attach great importance to the confidentiality of personal information and follow strict corporate instructions on this subject.

Our employees understand that legitimate business reasons are required to collect, access, and/or use personal information. Only our employees and authorized service providers may access your information as necessary to perform their jobs.

Why we collect, use and disclose information

We collect, use and disclose personal information about you for a variety of reasons, including:

  • verify your identity;
  • assess and underwrite insurance risks;
  • determine rates, fees and premiums;
  • promote and market the products and services that we offer, or that are offered by our partners or strategic allies, including insurance companies as well as brokers, agents, experts or intermediaries;
  • recognize and create advertisements that are relevant to you on our websites or applications or on third party websites and applications;
  • collect statistical data, review and integrate the information into insurance industry databases;
  • produce reports required by regulatory authorities or other insurance industry bodies, including claims history, in accordance with regulatory requirements and prudent insurance practices;
  • detect, prevent and contain fraud and unauthorized or illegal activities;
  • comply with all applicable laws and satisfy the requirements of tax authorities;
  • share your information with external service providers for external processing purposes such as data and payment processing;
Access your personal information

You can have access to your personal information at any time, in order to verify its accuracy, ensure that the content is complete or make changes to it. Simply contact us as indicated below. You can also make a written request for more details about the contents of your records.

You may request a copy of documents in our possession that contain your personal information. A reasonable amount may, however, be required to cover reproduction and handling costs. You will be informed of the costs before the documents are reproduced.

How are your requests, suggestions and complaints handled?

Yours commentaries are very importants for us. Processes have been put in place so that your requests are processed within 30 days of receipt. In certain circumstances (set out in PIPEDA), the 30 day period may be extended.
